DO NOT attempt any maintenance, adjustments or service

 

 

with engine and blade running. STOP engine and blade.

 

 

Remove starter insert. Disconnect spark plug wire and

 

 

 

secure away from spark plug. Engine and components are

 

 

HOT. Avoid serious burns, allow sufficient time for all com-

 

 

ponents to cool.

 

 

 

 

The wheel drive control lever (A, Figure 18) should

 

 

engage the transmission when the lever is squeezed

back toward the handlebar, and should disengage the

 

transmission when the lever is released.

 

Caution: Incorrect adjustment can cause premature

 

 

 

 

 

 

wear and/or damage to the wheel drive components.

If the transmission does not engage or disengage,

adjustment may be performed as follows:

19) and rotating the turnbuckle (A) counter-clock-

 

wise one-half turn to move the ferrules (B) out from

 

the turnbuckle. Tighten the jam nut against the

turnbuckle. Check and repeat as n d

drive cable tension* by loosening the jam nut and rotating the turnbuckle one-half turn clockwise to move the ferrules in toward the turnbuckle. Tighten the jam nut against the turnbuckle. Check and repeat as needed.

NOTE: Some models do not feature a jam nut.
