zWhen writing on the memory card, do not use a pencil or ball-
point pen. Only use a soft point pen (e.g. felt-tip pen).
zDo not use or store memo ry cards in the fol lowing locations.
• Locations subject to dust or sand
• Locations subject to high humidity and high temperatures
zSince some or all of the data recorded on the memory card
may be corrupted or er ased by electrical n oise, static
electricity, camera or memory card malfunction, making a
backup copy of important data is re commended.
zPlease note that formatting (init ializing) a memory card eras es
all data, including protected image s.
zYou are recommended to use memory cards that have been
formatted in your camera.
• The memory ca rd supplied with t he camera may be used without
further formatting.
• When the came ra is malfunctioning , a corrupted memo ry card
might be the cause. Ref ormatting the memor y card may solve the
problem.
• When a non-Canon bra nd memory card is malfunctioni ng,
reformatting it may solve the problem.
• Memory cards formatted in other cameras, computers, or
peripheral devices may not operate correct ly in this camera. W hen
that happens, reformat the memory card with this camera.
zIf formatting in the camera does not work properly, turn the
camera off and re-insert the memory card. Then turn the
camera back on and format again.
zBe careful when transferring or disp osing of a memory card.
Formatting or erasing the data on a memory card merely
changes the file management informa tion on the memory card
and does not ensure that its cont ents are completely deleted.
When disposing of a me mory card, take prec autions, such as
physically destroying the memory card, to prevent personal
information leaks.
