i Zooming in More Closely on Subjects (Digital Zoom)

You can use the digital zoom to zoom up to a maximum of 16x and capture subjects that are too far away for the optical zoom (p. 21) to enlarge. The images may appear rough, however, depending on the recording pixel setting (p. 68) and the zoom factor used.

Move the zoom lever toward i.

Hold the lever until zooming stops.

XIf you release the zoom lever, the largest possible zoom factor without image deterioration, and will appear.

Move it toward i again.

XThe subject will enlarge even more with the digital zoom, and the zoom factor will appear in blue.

If you keep holding the zoom lever, the zoom will temporarily stop at the point

where the zoom factor is at its maximum without image deterioration. In
