Receiving Documents

You can receive document transmissions automatically or manually. This section explains the Automatic Receive mode.

NOTE

To use Manual Receive mode, it is required to install the optional handset kit or connect an extension telephone to answer telephone calls.

For instructions explaining how to receive documents manually, see Chapter 4, “Receiving Documents,” in the Facsimile Guide.

Receiving Documents Automatically

After you take your machine out of the box and set it up, it is set to receive documents automatically. Use the Automatic Receive mode for a machine on a dedicated telephone line that you do not need for telephone voice communication.

Setting the Automatic Receive Mode

Check the LCD display. If <AUTO> is displayed, the machine is in the Automatic Receive mode.

When a fax document is sent to you, your machine receives the document automatically.

Reception Error Messages

Here are few of the most common error messages.

• The machine has run out of paper while printing a document:

RECEIVED IN MEMORY

SUPPLY REC. PAPER

CASSETTE 1:A4

Open the paper cassette and load paper into the paper cassette. As soon as you refill the paper cassette and close it, the remainder of the document in memory is printed. (See Chapter 9, “Special Sending/ Receiving Features”, in the Facsimile Guide.)
