FOCUS PRI.

[ ON], [ OFF]

The camcorder records the still image only after the focus has been adjusted.

Set it to [ OFF] if you wish to record a still image as soon as you press

PHOTO . When set to [ OFF], no focusing frame appears.

Focus priority cannot be turned off when the mode switch is set to .

In the [ FIREWORKS] recording program () the focus priority is automatically set to [ OFF].

IMG STAB

Mode switch:

[ ON], [ OFF]

The image stabilizer compensates for camcorder shake even at full telephoto.

The image stabilizer is designed to compensate for a normal degree of camcorder shake.

The image stabilizer may not be effective when recording in dark places

using the [ NIGHT] recording program ().

The image stabilizer cannot be turned off when the mode switch is set to .

We recommend setting the image

stabilizer to [ OFF] when using a tripod.

REC/IN SETUPHD STANDARD

[ HDV], [ DV(WIDE)],

[ DV(NORMAL)]

Selects the video standard of the recording and in DV standard also the aspect ratio.

[ HDV]: High definition video at 1080i specifications with 16:9 aspect ratio.

[ DV(WIDE)]: Standard definition digital video with 16:9 aspect ratio.

[ DV(NORMAL)]: Standard definition digital video with 4:3 aspect ratio.

 We recommend not mixing recordings made in different video standards on the same tape.

 Playing back a widescreen recording: TV sets compatible with the Video ID-1 system will automatically switch to wide (16:9) mode. Otherwise, change the aspect ratio of the TV manually. To play back on a TV with normal aspect ratio (4:3) change the [TV TYPE] setting accordingly ( 34).

DV REC MODE

DV

[ STD PLAY], [ LONG PLAY] When [HD STANDARD] is set to one of the DV standards you can change the video quality and as a result, also the available recording time.

 Recording in LP mode extends the available recording time on the tape 1.5 times.

 Depending on the condition of the tape (long usage, imperfections, etc.) you may notice some video problems (blocky video artifacts, banding, etc.) in the playback picture when playing back recordings
