Specifying the Auto Focus Area (AF Area)
You can use the following procedure to change the Auto Focus metering area for shooting snapshots.
• When recording movies, the AF metering area is always “Í Spot”.
1.In the REC mode, press [SET].
2.Use [8] and [2] to select the fourth control panel option from the top (AF Area).
3.Use [4] and [6] to select the setting you want and then press [SET].
The camera automatically determines the focus point on the
ÒIntelligent screen and focuses there (intelligent AF).
•Face detection (page 94) operates automatically.

•Auto Focus is disabled when W (Manual Focus) is selected for the focus mode, even if you select an AF area.
•With some BEST SHOT scenes, there are restrictions on the use of AF area settings. Because of this, you may not be able to use certain settings or you may not be able to specify any AF Area setting.
•“È Multi” cannot be selected for the AF area while Face Detection is enabled.
