PassiveBassInputConfiguration

The CVP-121 and CVP-118 are equipped with Speakon® NL4 inputs and the CVP-118 has additional 1/4” inputs. The usual method to using a subwoofer is to send your mixer output into an electronic crossover, which separates high and low frequencies. The low frequency output of the crossover is then sent to the input of the power amplifier designated for the subwoofer. Depending on the speaker output jacks on the power amplifier, connect the subwoofer using a cable with either Speakon connectors or 1/4” jacks (CVP-118 only). You can also connect the subwoofers without an electronic crossover.

Connecting Two Speakers: Since all inputs on a Cerwin-Vega passive subwoofer are wired in parallel, it is possible to connect two speakers by connecting the output of the powered amplifier to one input, and a second subwoofer to the other. Each subwoofer is a 4 ohm load. If you connect two subwoofers, the load becomes 2 ohms. The Cerwin-Vega CVP-118 is an 18-inch subwoofer that delivers deep, powerful bass. With a maximum power handling capacity of 1200 watts and a frequency response ranging from 35 Hz to 200 Hz, the CVP-118 ensures that low-end frequencies are produced with clarity and impact. It features a robust MDF enclosure, which enhances the durability of the unit while reducing unwanted resonance. The subwoofer is also equipped with a high-efficiency design, allowing it to produce more sound output with less power, making it an excellent choice for mobile DJs, live sound applications, and club environments.

On the other hand, the CVP-121 is a 21-inch subwoofer that takes bass performance to the next level. With an impressive maximum power handling of 2400 watts, the CVP-121 is capable of delivering overwhelming low-frequency output that can fill large venues. It also has a frequency response that extends down to 29 Hz, allowing it to reproduce the deepest bass notes with authority. The CVP-121 incorporates advanced design features, including a vented port for efficient airflow, which helps to prevent overheating and distortion during high-output levels.

Both the CVP-118 and CVP-121 utilize Cerwin-Vega's proprietary technologies, such as their custom-designed woofers and advanced voice coil cooling systems, which contribute to enhanced thermal management and driver longevity. They are built to withstand the rigors of professional use, making them reliable choices for sound engineers and DJs alike.

Additionally, both models are designed for easy integration with existing sound systems. They come with versatile input options, including speakON and 1/4-inch input connectors, ensuring compatibility with various setups. The robust build quality of these subwoofers is complemented by their sleek, professional appearance, making them visually appealing for live performances and installations.
