Sparksare present

PossibleCause
• Battery not installed
properly.
• Dead battery.
• Button assembly not
installedproperly.
• Faulty spark module.
• Output lead
connectionsnot
complete.
• Output lead
connectionsnot
complete.
• Arcing to grill away
fromburner(s).
• Weak battery.
• Electrodes are wet.
• Electrodes cracked or
broken“sparks at
crack”.
CheckProcedure
• Check battery orientation.
• Has battery been used
previously?
• Check to insure threads are
properlyengaged. Button
shouldtravel up and down
withoutbinding.
• If no sparks are generated
withnew battery and good
wireconnections, module is
faulty.
• Are output connections on
andtight?
• Are output connections on
andtight?
• If possible, observe grill in
darklocation. Operate
ignitionsystem and look for
arcingbetween output wires
andgrill frame.
• All sparks present but weak
orat slow rate.
• Has moisture accumulated
onelectrode and/or in burner
ports?
• Inspect electrodes for
cracks.
Prevention/Solution
• Install battery (make sure that “+” and “–”
connectorsare oriented correctly, with “+” end up
and“–” end down.)
• Replace battery with new AA-size alkaline battery.
• Unscrew button cap assembly and reinstall, making
surethreads are aligned and engaged fully.
• Replace spark module assembly.
• Remove and reconnect all output connections at
moduleand electrodes.
• Remove and reconnect all output connections at
moduleand electrodes.
• If sparks are observed other than from burner(s),
wireinsulation may be damaged. Replace wires.
• Replace battery with a new AA-size alkaline battery.
• Use paper towel to remove moisture.
• Replace cracked or broken electrodes.
