Chapter1 Cisco AS5850 Product Overview
Field-Replaceable Units
•Boots and reloads software images
•Provides source clocks used by all feature cards and power supplies
•Provides a BITS input BNC connector
•Connects to an external alarm source through a connector located on the front panel
Install the RSC card in the CiscoAS5850 in either slot 6 or slot 7. The card plugs directly into the
backplane.
The RSC card consists of the following components:
•CPU

RSC (QED RM7000 - 250MHz)

ERSC (Broadcom BCM1250 - 650MHZ).
•1Gigabyte of DDR memory on ERSC
•I/O controller
•Compact Flash memory card
•Boot Flash memory
•EEPROM
•NVRAM
•Packet switch ASICs
•Fast Ethernet, console, auxiliary and two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces

Note The universal gateway supports two RSCs for a redundant connection to the network backbone or for
