Removing and Replacing the Power Supply
This section describes how to remove and install the AC-input power supply and DC-input power supply
for the Catalyst 4500 E-series switches. This information is presented in the following sections:

Hazardous voltage or energy is present on the backplane when the system is operating. Use caution
when servicing.

Figure 4-1 and Figure 4-2 show the AC-input power supplies. Figure 4-3 and Figure 4-4 show a the
DC-input power supplies. Locate your power supply and notice the location of the captive installation
screws.
Note The power supplies are hot-swappable, so in redundant mode you will not need to power down the switch
to replace or upgrade most power supplies. In combined mode som e slots may lose power during an
upgrade or power supply replacement.
