Releasethe TALK button to
receiveincoming transmissions.
YourmicroTALK®is always in
LISTENINGMODE except when
theTALK, CALL or MODE
buttonsare pressed.
ToAdjust Volume
Pressthe VOLUME UP or the
VOLUMEDOWN buttons.
Adouble beep sound is used to
indicatethat you have reached
theminimum (1) or maximum
(8)volume level.
CallButton
Pressand release the CALL
button.
Theother person will hear a
two(2) second ringing tone.
Youcannot receive
transmissionswhile sending a call.
NOTE:Both radios must be tuned to the same
channeland privacy code to communicate.

ToIlluminate Display
Pressand release the
LIGHT/MAXRANGE button to
illuminatethe display for 10
seconds.
AutoSquelch/MaximumRange Extender
YourmicroTALK®radio is equipped with Auto
Squelch,which automatically shuts off weak
transmissionsand unwanted noise resulting from
terrain,conditions, or from reaching your
maximumrange limit.
Youcan temporarily turn Off Auto Squelch or turn
OnMaximum Range Extender, allowing all signals
tobe received and extending the maximum range
ofyour radio.
ToTemporarily TurnOff Auto Squelch:
– Press the LIGHT/MAX RANGE button for less
thanfive (5) seconds.
Ifyou hear two (2) beeps,
youhave turne d the
MaximumRange Extender On
(seebelow).
Channels
Withthe radio ON, select any
ofthe 8 channels by pushing
theCHANNEL UP or CHANNEL
DOWNbutton.
Youcan press and hold the
CHANNELUP or CHANNEL
DOWNbutton for fast advance.
NOTE:Both radios must be
tunedto the same
channeland privacy
code(see “CTCSS Privacy Codes” or “DCS
PrivacyCodes”) to communicate.
LockFunction
TheLOCK button locks the CHANNEL UP,CHANNEL
DOWN,and MODE/POWER buttons to prevent
accidentaloperation.
ToUse the Lock Function:
– Press and hold the LOCK
buttonfor two (2) seconds
toturn the Lock On or Off.
Adouble beep sound is used to
confirmyour Lock On or Off
request.When the radio is in
LockMode, the Lock icon will
bedisplayed.
ToTurnMaximum Range Extender On:
– Press and hold the LIGHT/MAX RANGE button
forat least five (5) seconds until you hear two
(2)beeps, indicating that the Maximum Range
Extenderis On.
ToTurnMaximum Range Extender Off:
– Press and release the LIGHT/MAX RANGE
buttonor change channels.
microTALK®Range
YourmicroTALK®radio has a range of up to 5
kilometres(3 miles). Your range will vary
dependingon terrain and conditions.
Inflat, open country, your
radiowill operate at
maximumrange.
Buildingsand foliage in the
pathof the signal can
reducethe range.
Densefoliage and hilly
terrainwill further reduce
thesignal.
Remember,you can achieve
maximumrange by using
MaximumRange Extender.
