Power-Cord Protection: Power su pply cords should be routed so th at they
are not likely to be wa lked on o r pinched by items placed u pon or a gainst
them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, conv enience receptacle s,
and at the point which they exit from th e product.
Protective Att achment Plug: The pro duct may be equipped with a n at-
tachment plug with overload protection. This is a safety feature. See t he
operating instruct ions for replacement or direc tions to reset the protective
device. If replacement of the plug is re quired, be sure the ser vice technician
has used a replaceme nt plug that has the sam e overload pr otection as t he
original plug as specied by the m anufacturer.
Outdoor Antenn a Groundi ng: If an outside antenna is conne cted to the
product, be sure th e antenna system is gr ounded so as to prov ide some
protection against volta ge surges and b uilt-up static charges. Art icle 810 of
the National Electrical Code, ANS/NFPA 70 provides info rmation with regard
to proper grounding of the mast and supporti ng structure, grounding of the
lead-in wire to an a ntenna-discha rge uni t, size of grounding conduc tors,
location of antenna-dischar ge unit, connectio n to grounding electro des, and
requirements for the grounding e lectrode (see gure).
Lightning: For added protectio n for this product, unplug it f rom the wall
outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system during a light ning storm
or when it is left unat tended and unused for long peri ods of tim e. This w ill
prevent damage to the product due to lig htning or power-line s urges.
Power Lines: An outside antenna system sho uld not be located in the vici n-
ity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuit s, or where it
can fall into such power lines or circ uits. When install ing an outside antenna
system, extreme care sho uld be taken to keep f rom touch ing such power
lines or circuits, as contact w ith them might be fatal .
