Chapter 6 - Basic ConfigurationGuide
This chapter briefly explains the major parameters that must be set in
orderto use the router.
Detailed information on the meaning of the router’s parameters is
provided in the CompatiViewManagement Software Reference Guide
andthe Text-Based Configuration and Command Line Management
ReferenceGuide. Youshould use thi s list as a starting point to look up
morespecific information in the other documents.
Ifyou need more general information on IP and IPX protocols, see the
Appendicesin the C ompatiViewManagement Software Reference
Guide.
Therea rea numb erof parametersettings which are optional, in the
sensethat they are not required for all installations. Thesesettings are
notcovered in this chapter.

Inorder to successfully connect to an Internet Service Provider(ISP),
youmust use router configuration parameters which will be provided by
thetechnical staff of the ISP. These parameters must include all IP
addresses, WAN settings, and any applicable authorization routines.
Pleasecheck withyour ISP before configuring or changingthe configu-
rationof your MicroRouter 1250i.
Note:This Basic Configuration Guide does not include information
on setting upp acketfilters for using the router as a Firewall. Seethe
