IPX Protocol
Requiredfor IPX
Thereare generally no required changes from the shipping Ethernet
configurationfor IPX. TheEthernet interface will autoconfigure to use
thetwo most common IPX frame types, and will autoadapt to condi-
tions on the Ethernet.
Suggestedfor IPX
Youmay want to set your own network numbers, rather than using the
autoconfiguredvalues. Youmay also want to turn off unused frame
types.

WAN Interface Configuration
Inorder to use a WANinterface, you may first need to set some phys-
icalparameters and then set up the link and protocol parameters.
Therea redifferences between the capabilities of the built-in T1
CSU/DSU WANinterface and the RS-232 WAN interface. The T1
interfacecan only be usedwith lines which run at fractional or full T1
rates. The RS-232 interface can be run synchronously or asynchro-
nously,at rates up to 256Kbps (sync) or 230.4Kbps (async).

Settings

Requiredfor Dedicated Line Operation
Nochanges from the default values are required for standard operation
over afull T1. The default values are listed in Appendix A.
Suggestedfor Dedicated Line Operation
Changingto fractional T1, different coding or framing, etc., may be
required for a particular installation.
