setting the router to allow Telnet access from hosts on its network.
Setting Up Telnet Operation
Telnet is a remote terminal communications protocol based on
TCP/IP. With Telnet you can log into and manage the MicroRouter
900i from anywhere on your IP internetwork, including across the
Internet if your security setup allows it.
To manage the router with Telnet, you must:
1. Run Telnet client software on your local computer, which will com-

2. You must also set some basic IP parameters in the router. The
required parameters for Telnet access to an interface are the IP
address, IP subnet mask, and IP broadcast address. There are sev-

via the Console interface or in-band via a reconfigured IP host.
Instructions for setting up these two methods were given ear-

interface, do the following:
A. Use the configure command and set the IPAddress,
SubnetMask, and IPBroadcast keywords in the IP
Ethernet 0 section.
B. Use the save command to save the changes to the devices
Flash ROM.
You may also use CompatiView from a reconfigured IP host (if
