BURNER REMOVAL AND CLEANING

GRILL AND ORIFICE CLEANING:

Remove the grill racks, then lift out the grill radiant tray. Grasp the burner, pull it up and slightly to the rear of the unit so the burner head comes off the brass orifice at the front, angle the burner sideways, and remove.

Burner Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the burner with a wire brush. Clear stubborn scale with a metal scraper. Clear any clogged ports with a straightened paper clip. Never use a wooden toothpick as it may break off and clog the port. Shake out any debris through the air shutter. Use a flashlight to inspect the burner inlet to ensure it is not blocked. If obstructions can be seen, use a metal wire coat hanger that has been straightened out.

Orifice Cleaning

With the burner removed, remove the orifice and shine a flashlight through the opening to ensure there is no blockage. Use a needle to clear any debris. Be extremely careful not to enlarge the hole or break off the needle (see Fig. 16).

IMPORTANT:

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO CENTER THE BURNER ON THE ORIFICE

PROPERLY.

Be careful not to upset the air shutters’ original position (unless readjusting). Lower the rear of the burner into the cutouts on the support channel at the rear of the burner box. Make sure it is level and does not rock. Light all of the burners and check for proper flame characteristics. If adjustments are necessary, refer to page 13. Do this prior to cooking on the grill.
