1-24 Rack Installation Guide
Installing the Cable-Management Arm
The cable-management arm can be mounted to either side of the rack. This procedure
secures the cable-management arm to the right side of the system chassis and the
right-hand slide assembly (as viewed from the back).
NOTE: When routing external SCSI cables, the cable management arm must be
mounted on the right side of the system chassis and the right-hand slide assembly
(as viewed from the back of the rack cabinet).
1. Insert the free end of the cable-management arm (the end having the tab with
notched corners and a captive thumbscrew) into the vertical slot on the back of
the system chassis.
2. Secure the cable-management arm in its pocket with the captive thumbscrew.
3. Attach the input/output (I/O) cables to their respective expansion cards or ports
on the back of the system.
4. Connect the remaining cables to the system.
5. Secure the cables to the cable-management arm:
a. Extend the cable-management arm out behind the system.
b. Route the cables along the cable-management arm, allowing some additional
slack in the cables at the hinge positions, and secure the cables to the cable-
management arm with the Velcro straps on the cable-management arm.
NOTE: When routing power cords to an optional power distribution unit mounted
within the rack cabinet, you may find it convenient to route the power cord
through the upper notches at the back of the slide assemblies.
