Replacing the Heat-Sink Assembly

CAUTION: Incorrect alignment of the heat sink can cause damage to the system board and processor.

Procedure

1Align the screw holes on the heat-sink assembly with the screw holes on the system board.

2In sequential order (indicated on the heat sink), tighten the captive screws that secure the heat-sink assembly to the system board.

3Connect the fan cable to the system board.

4Turn the system board over.

Post-requisites

1Follow the procedures from step 2 to step 10 in replacing the system board.

2Replace the optical-drive connector board.

3Replace the battery-connector board.

4Replace the palm rest.

5Replace the keyboard.

6Follow the procedures from step 3 to step 5 in replacing the hard drive.

7Follow the procedures from step 4 to step 5 in replacing the optical drive.

8Replace the memory module.

9Replace the wireless card.

10Replace the base cover.

11Replace the battery.
