RAC Card

The optional Remote Access Controller (RAC) provides a set of advanced features for managing the server
remotely. The following procedure describes the steps for installing or rem oving the optional RAC card.
Installing a RAC Card

T urn of f the s ystem, including an y attached perip herals, and then d isconnect the system from the elect rical
outlet.

Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 46

If applicable, remove the plastic filler plug from the system back panel. See Figure 3-16.

Remove any PCI cards attach ed to the center riser. See "Removing an Expansion Card" on page 62.

Remove the center riser card from the system board. See "Expansion-Card Riser" on page 82.

Angle the RAC card so tha t its NIC c onnector ins erts thr ough the ba ck-pane l RA C card opening , alig ning
the card with the back standoff.
