Optical Drive

The optional slimline op tical dr ive is mounted on a tray that slides into the front panel and connects to the
controllers on the system board through the sideplane board .
NOTE: DVD devices are data only.

Removing the Optical Drive Tray

troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or
telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not cover ed by your
warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the product.

T ur n of f the system, inclu ding any attached per ipherals, and then disco nnect the syste m from its electrical
outlet.

Remove the bezel. See "Removing and Replacing the Front Bezel" on pag e 45.

Open the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on pag e 46.

Remove the SAS controller daughter card. See "Removing a SAS Controller Daughter Card" on page 56.

Disconnect the optical-drive cable from the back of the driv e. See Figur e 3-17.

To remove the optic al drive, press forward on th e blue tray release tab, and then slide the drive tray out of
the system. See Figure 3-17.
