For non-SCSI drives such as the diskette drive and CD-ROM drive, an interface cable connects the interposer board, attached to the diskette drive and CD-ROM drive, to the system board. For SCSI devices, interface cables connect externally accessible SCSI devices and the SCSI backplane board to a SCSI host adapter either on the system board or on an expansion card. Responding to a Dell OpenManage Server Agent Alert Message

The optional Dell OpenManage™ Server Agent management application monitors critical system voltages and temperatures, the system cooling fans, and the status of the SCSI hard-disk drives in the system.
