To adjust the tension of the mower deck drive belt, turn adjuster nut on threaded eyebolt. Turning nut to the left will loosen the belt, see Fig 10. Idler arm, spring and eyebolt location/ appearance will vary on some models.

NOTE: Engaging the

blade clutch may produce a sharp, high pitched chirp or squeal as the belt tension loading is absorbed by the idler system. This is normal and not a sign of failure.

Belt deflection or movement should be approximately ¼" when measured at mid-point between pulleys. Periodically inspect both belt and idler systems.
