POSITIONING YOUR ENERGY “TAKE 5.2” SPEAKERS
Using Your Take2.2 as Left and Right Main Speakers
For best stereo separation, we recommend the speaker pair be placed 5 to 8 feet (2-3 m) apart. If placed on the recommended stands (Take 5.2ST) the speakers should optimally be placed in front of any furniture to minimize side reflections. The distance from the speakers to the listener should be about
1 to 1.5 times the distance separating the speakers, forming a triangle. See Diagram 3.
The Take1.2 Center Channel Speaker
The purpose of the center channel speaker is to ensure that the central audio image, including actors' voices, appears to emanate from the screen. For best results the center channel speaker should be located directly above, or below the TV screen. The goal is to place the center channel as close to the center of the TV screen as possible, this will vary due to your furniture and TV placement.
See Diagram 4.
Using Your Take2.2 as Surround/Effects Speakers
Surround effects speakers should be positioned adjacent to or behind the primary listening area, on the rear wall, side walls, or on the ceiling. This will provide the sense of spaciousness and ambiance for either Dolby Pro Logic™, Dolby Digital™, or DTS™ Surround source formats. The placement of the rear speakers will vary greatly from one room to another. Diagram 3 shows the perfect speaker set-up, however your room may vary from the shape and dimensions we have shown. The rear channel speakers can be placed on the rooms' side walls, or rear walls. Both will provide great sound and we encourage experimenting with a few different locations to see which sounds best to you.
The rear speakers may be placed on the side walls pointing at the listening area, or on the rear walls pointing forward. See Diagram 3 for some suggestions.
CONNECTING YOUR ENERGY “TAKE 5.2” SPEAKERS
The TAKE 2.2 and 1.2 speakers feature high quality binding post connectors that allow up to 12 gauge wire to be connected to them. You also have the choice of using bare wire, spade connectors, or banana plugs at your discretion. (See Diagram 6) If you are unsure of what connector is right for you, then discuss this with your authorized ENERGY retailer. Diagrams 1 and 2 show a typical A/V receiver, with two wiring methods. If you are a more advanced user, we recommend experimentation with any of the methods, however if this is your first Home Theater system, we recommend using Diagram 1 as it is the easiest to set up and configure, as well as the best sounding.
REMEMBER: Always connect red-to-red and black-to-black, when making the connections between receiver and speakers. If you inadvertently reverse one of the connections (ie. red-to-black), you will notice a lack of bass from the speakers.
Receiver Set-Up
For the best sound, we recommend that you set the front, center and rear speakers to the “Large” setting on your Receivers' speaker set up menu. This will provide a smoother overall balance between the subwoofer and the speakers. If however, you are playing the system at extremely loud levels, you should set all of the speakers to “Small” mode (and if you have an ENERGY S8.2 subwoofer, select the Video Mode on the Audio/Video Switch), which will remove some of the bass from the speakers. For further details on how to adjust the speaker modes, please consult the receivers' owners manual.
Amplifier Requirements
The Take 2.2 and Take 1.2 speakers have an 8 ohm nominal impedance, and will function well with a wide range of receivers.
NOTE: It is not recommended to use more than two speakers per amplifier channel.
