
4.2.2 Bidirectional Print AlignmentAdjustment
This sectiondescribe sthe procedurefor adjusting the bidirectional printalignment, required after mechanism
repair.This procedure is also necessary ifyou replace the mainboard assemblyor EEPROM, because the
adjusted valueis written to theEEPROM on the C166MAIN board. You canperform theadjustment from
theSettin gsDiskette, using thecontrol panel, or with aremote utility. This section describesthe adjustment
procedure with theSettings Diskettefirst, and then describes theadjustment procedure using thecontrol
panel.
Notes:
•
When the main boardis replaced, reset the Factory Settings first,then perform the
bidirectional adjustment.
•
Do not perform the Bi-d adjustmentif the input voltage is fluctuating heavily.
4.2.2.1 Bi-dPrint Alignment Adjustment usingthe Settings Diskette
1. Insert the Settings Diskette intoDrive A of the PCand thepower on.
2. Type GWBASIC and press ENTER.
3. Load and run theJ10A00E program. First, the programdisplays MachineSelect Menu.
Note: DEFSTDis the default U.S. setting.
4. Highlight 9 pins by movingthe cursor with ↑or↓key andselect it by pressingENTER.
5. After you select 9 pins, yousee the following menu.
6. In this menu, highlight the factory settingsfor the printer’s destinationby movingthe cursor
withthe ↑or ↓key and selectthe destination factory settingsby pressing ENTER.
7. After you select the each factory settings,the program displays theMain Menu, shown below.
8. Highlight Bi-d Adjust by moving the cursor withthe ↑or ↓key andselect itby pressing
ENTER.
9. After you select Bi-dAdjust, the program displaysthe Bi-DAdjustme nt Menu, shown on the
nextpage .
