Problems and Solutions
Here are some basic troubleshooting tips if you have any problems setting up your printer or printing. You can also turn to “Troubleshooting,” in your electronic manual or look in your printer software online help.
Problems Setting Up the Printer or Using the Software
If you installed the ink cartridges and the printer started making noise . . .
■The first time you install ink cartridges, the printer must charge its
■Make sure the ink cartridge clamps are locked down completely and that no packing material remains in the printer.
If your printer makes noise when you turn it on or after it has been sitting for a while . . .
■Your printer is performing routine maintenance.

If you’re having problems installing your printer software . . .
■Carefully follow the instructions for installing the printer software on the Start Here card.
■If you see a screen telling you that new hardware is found in Windows 95 or Windows 98, click Cancel. You can’t install your printer software that way.
■Make sure your printer is turned on and the printer cable is securely connected to the printer and computer.
■Make sure you’ve closed all other applications, including any screen savers. Then try installing the software again.
