SELECT
To select a different channe l when you have selec ted a conventional
system:
1. Press the CHANNEL/SEL + or - ramp button until the desired
channel name appears in the alphanumeric display. A tone sounds
each time the channel name changes unless the BSY indicator is on.
CONVENTIONAL MODE OPERATION
1. Select the conve ntional channel using +/- ramp but ton.
2. Determine if the channel is in use before making the call by pr essing
CLR to momentarily disable the squelc h and mon itor the channe l for
activity. Also, removing the MIC from the holder disables Channel
Guard which allows monitoring of the channel without disa bling the
squelch.
3. Press PTT to send the message.
RECEIVING A CALL
1.Make sure that the radio is turned ON, and the proper channel is
selected using the CHANNEL/SEL + or - ramp button and the SYS
button.
2. Press the CLR button to monitor the channe l . Noi se wi ll be he a rd i f
there is no activity on the channel. This function is also useful for
setting the desired volume level .
3. You will hear the voice message automatically if a valid message is
received by your radio.
SENDING A MESSAGE
1. Make sure the radio is turned ON, and the proper Channe l and System
have been selected.
2. Press and hold the CLR switch and the n adjust the VOLUME con trols
for the desired listening level. Release CLR swit ch.
3. Decide what you wan t to sa y. If you inte nd a le ngthy messag e (or
several messages), the vehicle engine should be running to maintain
the battery charge.
