Turning the Camera on and Off
Shooting Mode
To turn the camera on, open the lens cover ful- ly. The camera turns off when the lens cover is closed.

2Tip: Switching to Playback Mode
Touch the aicon to start playback. Press the shutter button halfway to return to shooting mode.
3Cautions
•Pictures can be affected by fi ngerprints and other marks on the lens. Keep the lens clean.
•Closing the cover does not completely cut power to the camera.
Playback Mode
If the lens cover is closed, the camera can be turned on in playback mode by pressing the pbutton for about a second.
Press the pbutton for about a second to turn the camera off.
2Tip: Switching to Shooting Mode
To exit to shooting mode, press the shutter button halfway. Touch the aicon to return to playback.
3Caution
The indicator lamp lights when the camera is turned off. Do not remove the battery while the lamp is lit. The camera can not be turned on again until the lamp turns off.
2Tip: Auto Power Off
The camera will turn of f automatically if no operations are performed for the length of time selected in the MAUTO POWER OFF menu (pg. 75). To turn the camera on, close and reopen the lens cover or press the p button for about a second.
