Avoiding Blurred Pictures

If the subject is poorly lit, blurring caused by camera shake or subject movement can be reduced by selecting fON for the LDUAL IS MODE option in the shooting menu (pg. 61). The type of blur reduction can be selected in the setup menu (pg. 71).

Sensitivity is raised when dual IS is in effect. Note that blurring may still occur depending on the scene.

Best Framing

To display a framing guide (“best framing”), select ON for the cFRAMING GUIDELINE option in the shooting menu.

To use best framing, position the main subject at the intersection of two lines or align one of the horizontal lines with the horizon. Use focus lock (pg. 29) to focus on subjects that will not be in the center of the frame in the fi nal photograph.

Silent Mode

In situations in which camera sounds or lights may be un- welcome, select hON for the aSILENT MODE option in

the shooting menu (pg. 61).

The camera speaker, fl ash, and illuminator turn off; fl ash and volume settings (pg. 74) can not be adjusted (note that the fl ash will still fi re in Cmode). To restore normal operation, turn silent mode off.
