The main unit may be moun ted on a tabletop or a bulkhe ad, using 5×25 self-tapping s crews (sup-
plied).
When choosing a mount ing location, consider the following points:
• It is essential that the mounting surface is flat, otherwise blurred record ings may result, a s in the
example below. If it is necessary to level th e unit, insert flat wa sher (sup plied) b etween un it and
mounting surface at appropriate loc at io n(s).
• Locate the unit out of direct sunlight be cause of heat that can build up inside the ca bin et.
• For bulkhead mounting, be sure the m ou nting location is strong enough to suppo rt the unit
under the vibration normally encountered on board the vessel.
• Choose a location where vibration and shock are minimal.
• Choose a location where the cont rol panel can be easily operated.
• Leave sufficient space around the unit for servicing and maintenance. Refer to the outline
drawing for recommende d maintenance space.
• Locate the unit away from areas subject to water splash and rain.
• A magnetic compass will be disturbed if the unit is placed too close to it. Separate the unit fro m
a magnetic compass by the distance not ed on page iii to prevent interference to the com pass.
