Record any custom BIOS settings on your printout, then close the BIOS utility. Follow the instructions in “Preventing static electricity discharge” on page 29. Follow the instructions in “Opening the server case” on page 30.

Replacing the system board

To replace the system board:

2 Restart your server, then press F2 when the Gateway logo screen appears during startup.

7 Remove the PCI expansion cards. For instructions, see “Installing a PCI expansion card” on page 43.

8 Remove the heat sink and processor. For instructions, see “Replacing a processor” on page 45.

9 Disconnect the power and data cables from the system board, noting their locations and orientation. (You will reconnect the cables after you install the new board.) Make sure that you disconnect the intrusion switch cable.
