3.6 Warnings About Using the Safety Seat as a Carrier

Infants can tip or slide the carrier by their movements or by pushing off other objects with their feet. If the carrier tips over, your child can suffocate. If the carrier is too upright, your infant’s head may drop forward and cause breathing problems. To avoid injury or death from suffocation, falls and other hazards:

!ALWAYS place carrier on a firm and level surface. Never place carrier on soft or plush surfaces that may allow carrier and infant to roll over.

!DO NOT place carrier near the edge of surfaces such as tables or counters. To prevent falls, stay within arm’s reach whenever carrier is not on floor/ground.

!ALWAYS use harness straps when child is in the carrier and NEVER LEAVE CHILD UNATTENDED.

!USE ONLY with strollers that are part of the Graco® Travel System.

!BEFORE USING THE HANDLE to pick up or carry the safety seat, be sure the handle is locked in position so that it will not move unexpectedly.
