Final Safety Checks

15.If your child is already in the safety seat because you have been using it as a carrier, make sure child is secured with the harness according to section 7, “Securing Your Child in the Safety Seat/Carrier” (page 36).

16.Make sure that the safety seat is properly secured by the vehicle seat belt system by performing the following test EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE WITH YOUR CHILD:

PUSH DOWN AND SIDE TO SIDE on the

Ì

top of the safety seat slowly but very firmly

to make sure the vehicle seat belt does not

lengthen at all and that the seat belt is fastened very, very tightly around the safety seat/base Ì.

If you find that your safety seat easily rotates

down or your vehicle seat belt slips or becomes loose, make sure you have followed steps 1-15

correctly, or see section 4, “Selecting a Suitable Location for the Safety Seat” (page 13).

DO NOT USE THIS SEATING LOCATION IF THE SEAT BELT DOES NOT HOLD THE SAFETY SEAT TIGHTLY.
