Safety Instructions For Drum / Flap Sanders
.BE AWARE OF DRUM OR FLAP ATTACHMENT ROTATION DIRECTION when sanding.
.KEEP FINGERTIPS AWAY FROM MOV- ING PARTS.
.NEVER USE EXCESSIVE FORCE WHEN SANDING. Doing so greatly increases the chance of personal injury, mechanical damage, or damage to your workpiece.
.ALWAYS FEED YOUR WORKPIECE AGAINST THE DIRECTION OF ROTA- TION.
.DEVELOP GOOD HABITS IN YOUR SHOP and safety will become second- nature to you. Habits – good and bad – are hard to break.
.DO NOT SAND A WORKPIECE IF YOU DOUBT ITS STABILITY OR INTEGRITY. Inspect all materials carefully for foreign objects like nails and staples.
.WHEN DRUM SANDING, FEED MATER- IAL INTO THE PORTION OF THE DRUM SPINNING DOWNWARD.
.PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO WOOD DUST IS KNOWN TO CAUSE CANCER IN HUMANS. Always wear an OSHA- approved respirator when working in an environment that could contain wood dust.
.DO NOT OPERATE THE SANDER IF THE DRUM OR FLAP ATTACHMENT IS DAMAGED OR BADLY WORN. Pieces of sandpaper could be ejected from the sander, causing serious injury.
No list of safety guidelines can be complete. Every shop environment is different. Always consider safety first, as it applies to your individual working conditions. Use this and other machinery with caution and respect. Failure to do so could result in serious per- sonal injury, damage to equipment or poor work results.
