DO NOT attach the dust port if you do not intend to connect your planer to a dust col- lection system. Accumulated wood chips could cause a malfunction, resulting in per- sonal injury or damage to the planer.

To install the dust hood:

 

1.Secure the dust port to the planer upper cover with the hex bolts, hex nuts, and flat washers, as shown in Figure 8. It will be nec- essary to reach inside the port opening with a wrench to hold the nut while tightening the hex bolts.

2.Use the cap screws and lock washers to secure the dust port to the planer head cast- ing.

Before starting your machine for the first time, make sure the gearbox has oil.

To check the gearbox oil level:

1.Using a 14mm wrench, remove the gearbox fill plug (Figure 9).

2.Using the short end of the 6mm hex wrench, dip it inside the fill hole and remove it.

—If the end of the hex wrench is coated with oil, then the gearbox oil level is okay. Replace the fill plug and skip to the next section.

—If the end of the hex wrench is not coated with oil, then you need to add more oil. Refer to Page 23 for instructions on how to do this.
