height, giving more leeway to symbols printed with above minimum row heights (e.g., 4.0 X). A poor grade here is corrected by either stretching the symbol ver- tically or correcting the print condition (e.g., turning down the thermal burn set- ting or adjusting inking) that causes rows to interfere.

X-dimension

The X-dimension is an approximate measure of the average width of the narrow elements in a 2D stacked bar code symbol or a single element or module in a 2D matrix symbol, and indicates growth or shrinkage of the element widths.
