If you have problems installing

1Make sure your printer is on and all connections are firm. Ensure that no other peripherals (such as a scanner, switch box, tape backup, etc.) are connected to the printer cable. Make sure your cable is IEEE-1284-compliant.

2Exit your software program and turn off the computer and the printer. Turn on the printer and then turn on the computer.

3Close any virus protection programs that are running on your computer. Right-click the virus protection program icon in the taskbar status area, and then click Disable.

4Uninstall the printer software using the instructions on page 55 of the user’s guide.

5Try the installation process again.

6If you get a message that two-way communication is not working, click OK and continue with the rest of the installation. For more information on the communication test, see page 14.

If you’re still having problems with the installation

Try the installation process again. If you still have problems, call an authorized HP dealer or call your HP Customer Care service technician. For the phone number nearest you, see page 45 in the user’s guide.
