The user access modes to a ￿le are determined b y four separate lev els of security settings. All four levels are checked and must be passed to gran t a user access to a ￿le. The only t wo levels over which a standard user has con trol are the ￿le and loc kword levels. However, it is important for a standard user to understand all lev els of the securit y system, since the combination of all the settings determines the user's access to the ￿le. Figure 6-16 sho ws the security levels checked when a user attempts to gain access to a ￿le.
