SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

1Chain saws are designed solely for cutting wood. The only cutting equipment that can be used with this chain saw are the combinations of bars and chains recommended in the ”Technical data” section.

2Never use a chain saw if you are tired, if you have drunk alcohol, or if you are taking medication that affects your vision, your judgement or your co- ordination.

WARNING!

Running an engine in a confined or badly ventilated area can result in death due to asphyxiation or carbon monoxide poisoning.

3Always wear suitable safety clothing. See the section on ”Personal protective equipment”.

4Never use a chain saw that has been modified in any way from its original specification.

6 STARTING

Long term inhalation of the engine's exhaust fumes, chain oil mist and dust from sawdust can represent a health risk.

Never start a chain saw unless the bar, chain and all covers are fitted correctly.

The chain brake must be engaged when the chain saw is started. See the instructions under the heading Start. Never air drop start the chain saw. This method is extremely dangerous, as it is easy to lose control of the chain saw. See the instructions under the heading Start.

• Never start a chain saw unless the bar, chain and clutch cover are fitted correctly. (See section on ”Assembly”).

5a Never use a chain saw that is faulty. Carry out the regular checks, maintenance and service routines described in this manual. Some maintenance and service measures must be carried out by trained specialists. See the section on ”Maintenance”.

b Before use

1Check that the chain brake works correctly and is not damaged. See the instructions under the heading Checking the chain brake.

2Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged.

3Check that the throttle lock works correctly and is not damaged.

4Check that the start and stop switch works correctly and is not damaged.

• Never start a chain saw indoors. Exhaust fumes can be dangerous.

• Before starting the saw make sure there are no people or animals nearby who might be put at risk.

Place the saw on the ground and hold the rear handle down with your right

foot. Grasp the front handle firmly using your left hand. Make sure the chain saw is steady and the chain is not touching the ground. Then grasp the starter handle with your right hand and pull the starter cord. Never twist the starter cord around your hand.

7FUEL SAFETY

(Refuelling, fuel mixture, storage.)

5Check that all handles are free of oil.

6Check that the anti vibration system works and is not damaged.

7Check that the muffler is securely attached and not damaged.

8Check that all parts of the chain saw are tightened correctly and that they are not damaged or missing.

9Check that the chain catcher is in place and not damaged.

WARNING!

The catalytic converter muffler gets very hot during and after use. This also applies during idling. Be aware of the fire hazard, especially when handling the saw near flammable substances or vapours.

Fuel and fuel vapour are highly inflammable. Take care when handling fuel and chain oil. Keep away from naked flames and do not breathe in fuel vapour.

Husqvarna 346XP 351 manual General Safety Precautions

346XP 351 specifications

The Husqvarna 346XP and 351 chainsaws are celebrated models within the Husqvarna lineup, recognized for their excellence in performance, efficiency, and ease of use. Designed predominantly for professional use, these chainsaws incorporate advanced technology and ergonomic features that cater to the needs of tree care specialists, landscapers, and serious woodworkers.

One of the standout features of the Husqvarna 346XP is its lightweight design, which allows for easy maneuverability and reduced fatigue during extended use. Weighing around 10.8 pounds, the chainsaw is equipped with a powerful 50.1cc, 2.8 horsepower engine, delivering exceptional cutting performance while maintaining efficient fuel consumption. The model comes equipped with a 15 to 18-inch guide bar, providing versatility for various cutting tasks, from limbing to felling small trees.

The 351 model offers similar performance metrics but is designed slightly differently, featuring an improved air injection system for cleaner operation. This system actively collects debris before it reaches the air filter, extending the service intervals and enhancing engine life. The powerful 51.7cc engine on the 351 provides a higher power output compared to the 346XP, suited for even the most demanding cutting jobs.

Both chainsaws utilize Husqvarna’s X-Torq engine technology, which reduces fuel consumption by up to 20% while lowering emissions. This not only promotes environmental sustainability but also translates into cost savings for users. The LowVib technology integrated into both models minimizes vibrations, ensuring a more comfortable experience and reducing operator fatigue.

Enhanced safety features are also paramount in both chainsaws. The inertia-activated chain brake activates quickly in the event of a kickback, providing an additional layer of protection. An adjustable oil pump allows users to control the lubrication rate, optimizing the chainsaw's performance based on the type of work being performed.

The ergonomic design of the handles enhances grip and control, allowing for precision cutting. These chainsaws are user-friendly, catering to both experienced operators and those new to chainsaw work. Overall, the Husqvarna 346XP and 351 represent a perfect blend of power, technology, and comfort, making them reliable choices for professional and serious amateur users alike.
