TCP/IP Connectivity

-required for SAP NetWeaver

-strategic communications protocol

-any HW supporting standard TCP/IP can be used

-ongoing enhancements are planned

-take advantage of standard TCP/IP functions: acknowledgement management re-transmission

keep alive support in order delivery

-over GbE uses QDIO mode and MPC support which requires a VTAM TRLE Node Definition

TCP/IP Definitions:

Device: associates a TCP/IP device name with the LCS device number DEVICE <device_name> LCS <lcs_address>

Link: associates the TCP/IP link name with the network protocol attached to the port and the TCP/IP device name

LINK <link_name> <network_protocol> <link_number> <device _name>

Home: associates the Home IP address with the link name

HOME <home_ip_address> <link_name>

Gateway: associates the network address with the link name

GATEWAY <network> <first_hop> <link_name> <max_packet_size> <subnet_mask>

Start: used to start the device name

START <device_name>
