With the Random function you can enjoy a random selection of titles, chapters, groups, tracks, MP3s, or JPEG images.

The Title Random and Group Random options can be selected only during playback.

With the Title Random option, chapters within the current title are played at random. With the Disc Random option, titles, chapters, groups, tracks, or fold- ers on the disc are played at random. If you set the Random function during playback, random playback begins after the current chapter or track has finished.

Press the Play [ ] button to start

Random playback starts.

Random playback stops automatically when all of the items have been played once.

If the Repeat function is on (see page 58), random playback starts all over again when all items have been played.

To cancel random playback, use the [Random] button to select Off.

Press the [Random] button repeatedly to select a random option.

The selected random option appears onscreen and the RANDOM indicator appears on the display.

The available options depend on the current disc type, as follows: DVD-Video:Title Random, Disc Ran- dom, Random Off.

DVD-Audio:Group Random, Disc Random, Random Off.

SACD, VCD, CD: Disc Random, Ran- dom Off.

MP3/JPEG: Folder Random (includes files in subfolders), Disc Random, Ran- dom Off.

If you’re using the Random function with the Disc Navigator (MP3/JPEG), the Repeat function is off when the MODE: field is blank.

Notes:

To select the next title, chapter, group, track, MP3, or JPEG image during random playback, press the Next [ ] button.

Random playback may not work with some DVD-Video and JPEG discs .

To use the Random function with a VCD that supports PBC, you must first turn off PBC (see page 85).

If the Memory function is on (page 60), random play- back is unavailable.

You can’t use the [Search] button during random play- back.

During random playback, the remote controller’s arrow [], [ ], [], [ ] buttons don’t work with the Disc Navigator.
