12.2.1 RS-232 Serial

EIA­232­E standard

The EIA-232-E standard specifies the interface between (for example) a modem and a computer so that they can exchange data. The computer can then send data to the modem, which then sends the data over a telephone line. The data that the modem receives from the telephone line can then be sent to the computer. Serial AT Attachment (ATA) Working Group. This X3T10 standard defines an integrated bus interface between disk drives and host processors. It provides a common point of attachment for systems manufacturers and the system. You can search for information about the working group on the Web.
