IBMU Functionality
2.1.3 Where Is IPMI-Relevant Information Stored?
The following table shows which information is stored in whic h repos itory of a BMC/PM.
The IBMU provides approximately 100Kbytes of flash memory for each repository.
The following figure shows the repositories available in IPMI controllers operated as BMC or PM
after the SDRs of the PMs were copied into the BMC’s SDR repository. Nonintelligent devices
provide none of the repositories.

(SEL) BMC
Sensor data records (S DRs) of all sensors on a board. SDRs contain, for
example, threshold values, conversion factors, and information on
whether events are generated. Local SDR PM and BMC
SDRs of all sensors availab le in the entire system. At fi rst, the SDR
repository of the B MC is empty, and the SDR s of all PMs must b e copied
into the BMC’s SDR repository (will b e explained later). SDR BMC
