TheInvacarepatientliftisNOTatransportdevice.Itisintendedtotransferanindividualfromoneseatedsurfacetoanother
(suchasabedtoawheelchair).
DONOTattemptanytransferwithoutapprovalofthepatient’sphysician,nurseormedicalassistant.Thoroughlyreadthe
instructionsinthisOwner’sManual,observeatrainedteamofexpertsperformtheliftingproceduresandthenperformthe
entireliftprocedureseveraltimeswithpropersupervisionandacapableindividualactingasapatient.
InvacareStandAssistandTransf erslingsarespecificallydesignedtobeusedinconjunctionwithInvacarepatientlifts.
SlingsandaccessoriesdesignedbyothermanufacturersarenottobeutilizedasacomponentofInvacare’spatientlift
system.Usetheslingthatisrecommendedbytheindividual’sdoctor,nurseormedicalassistantforthecomfortandsafety
oftheindividualthatisbeinglifted.
Ifthepatientliftisusedintheareaofashowerorbath,ensurethatthepatientliftiswipedcleanofanymoistureafteruse.DO
NOTstoretheliftinadampareaorinadampcondition.Periodicallyinspectallcomponentsofthepatientliftforsignsof
corrosion.Replaceallpartsthatarecorrodedordamaged.
Thestandupliftmaybeoperatedbyonehealthcareprofessionalforallliftingpreparation,transferringfromandtransferringto
procedureswithacooperative,partialweightbearingpatient.However,sincemedicalconditionsvary,Invacarerecommends
thatthehealthcareprofessionalevaluatetheneedforassistanceanddeterminewhethermorethanoneassistantisappropriatein
eachcasetosafelyperformthetransfer.
Theuseofthepatientliftbyoneassistantshouldbebasedontheevaluationofthehealthcareprofessionalforeachindividualcase.

Weight Limitation

DONOTexceedmaximumweightlimitationofthepatientlift.Theweightlimitationforthepatientliftis350lbs.

Assembling the Lift

DONOTovertightenmountinghardware.Thiswilldamagemountingbrackets.

Using the Sling

StandAssistSlings:DONOTusethestandassistslingincombinationwiththepatientliftasatransportdevice.Itis
intendedtotransferanindividualfromonerestingsurfacetoanother(suchasabedtoawheelchair).
StandAssistSlings:Beforeliftingthepatient,makesurethebottomedgeofthestandassistslingispositionedonthelower
backofthepatientandthepatient’sarmsareoutsidethestandassistsling.
StandAssistSlings:ThebeltMUSTbesnug,butcomfortableonthepatient,otherwisethepatientcanslideoutofthesling
duringtransfer,possiblycausinginjury.
Trans ferSlings:Beforeliftingthepatient,makesurethebottomedgeofthetransferslingisatthebaseofthespineandthe
patient’sarmsareoutsidethetransfersling.
Trans ferSlings:DONOTraisethepatienttoafullstandingpositionwhileusingthetransfersling,otherwiseinjurymay
occur.
Aftereachlaundering(inaccordancewithinstructionsonthesling),inspectsling(s)forwear,tears,andloosestitching.
Bleached,torn,cut,frayed,orbrokenslingsareunsafeandcouldresultininjury.Discardimmediately.
DONOTalterslings.
Besuretochecktheslingattachmentseachtimetheslingisremovedandreplaced,toensurethatitisproperlyattachedbefore
thepatientisremovedfromastationaryobject(bed,chairorcommode).
Ifthepatientisinawheelchair,securethewheellocksinplacetopreventthechairfrommovingforwardsorbackwards.
