BEFORE CALLING FOR SERVICE

Check the following list to be sure a service call is really necessary. A quick reference to this manual may help you avoid an unneeded service call.

THE AIR CONDITIONER WILL NOT OPERATE.

Check if...

Wall plug disconnected.

House fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped. MODE selector is OFF position.

Unit was turned off and then on too quickly. TEMP Control set warmer than room temperature. The current interrupter device is triped

Then...

Push plugfirmly into wall outlet.

Replace fuse with time delay type or reset circuit breaker. Turn MODE selector to the desired COOL setting.

Turn unit off and wait 3 minutes before restarting.

Turn TEMP Control clockwise to a cooler setting (higher number). Press the RESET button located on the power cord plug

If the RESET button will not stay engaged, discontinue use of the air conditioner and contact a qualified service technician.

AIR FROM UNIT DOES NOT FEEL COLD ENOUGH.

Check if...

Then...

MODE selector in LOW COOL position. TEMP Control set too warm (lower number). Room temperature below 70°F (21°C).

Temperature sensing tube touching evaporator coil, located behind front grille.

Turn selector to HIGH COOL position

Turn TEMP Control clockwise to a cooler setting.

Cooling may not occur until room temperature rises above 70°F (21°0). Straighten tube away from evaporator coil.

THE AIR CONDITIONER COOLING, BUT ROOM IS TOO WARM - ICE FORMING ON COOLING COIL BEHIND FRONT GRILLE.

Check if...

Outdoor temperature below 70°F (21°C).

Air filter may be dirty.

TEMP Control set too cold for night-time cooling.

Then...

To defrost the coil, set selector to FAN position. Then, turn TEMP control counterclockwise to a warmer setting.

Clean filter. Refer to Maintenance section of owner'smanual. To defrost, set selector to FAN position.

To defrostthe coil,setselectorto a FANposition.Then,set the MODE

controlat FAN positionor "HighCool" withthe TEMPcontrolto a warmerposition.

Check if...

Dirty air filter- air restricted. TEMP Control set toe warm.

Front of unit is blocked by drapes, blinds, furniture, etc. Air distribution is restricted.

Doors, windows, registers, etc. open. Cold air escapes. Unit recently turned on in hot room.

Clean air filter. Refer to Maintenance section of owneGsmanual. Turn TEMP control clockwise to a cooler setting (higher number). Clear blockage infront of unit.

Close doors, windows, registers, etc.

Allow additionaltimeto removestoredheatfrom walls,ceiling,floor,andfurniture.
