White Balance
Choose your lighting
condition.
Auto—automatically corrects white balance. Ideal for general
picture taking.
Daylight—for pictures in natural lighting.
Tungsten—corr ect s t he o ra nge ca st of h ou seh ol d l igh t b ulb s.
Ideal for indoor pictures under tungsten or halogen li ghting
without flash.
Fluorescent—correct s the gree n cas t of f luore scen t lig hting .
Ideal for indoor pictures under fluorescent lighting wit hout
flash.
Open Shade—for pictures in shade in natural lighting.
Face Detection Capture
Choose if faces get focus
priority.
On—In Auto mode (and in SCN modes designed for pictures
of people), the camera attempts to focus on faces.
Off
Exposure Metering
Evaluate light levels at specific
areas of a scene.
Multi-Pattern—evaluates lighting conditions throughout
the image to give an optimum picture exposure. Ideal for
general picture taking.
Center-Weight—evaluates the lighting conditions of the
subject centered in the lens. Ideal for backlit subjects.
Spot—similar to Center-weighted, except the meterin g is
concentrated on a smaller area of the subject centered on the
LCD.
AF Zone
Select a large or concentrated
area of focus.
Multi-zone—evaluates 5 zones to give an even picture focus.
Ideal for general picture taking.
Center-zone—evaluates the small area centered on the LCD.
Ideal when precise focus of a specific area in the picture is
needed.
NOTE: For the best pictures, the camera is set to Multi-zone when in Landscape mode.
