EXPOSURE COMPENSATION

The camera exposure can be adjusted to make the final picture lighter or darker by as much as ±1.5Ev in 0.3 increments. Exposure compensation is set in the recording menu (p. 35). When set to any value other than 0.0, the exposure-compensation value remains in the top left corner of the monitor as a warning.

Shooting tips

Exposure compensation is used when the

Before

camera’s exposure meter is deceived by high-

key or low-key subjects. In the example, the

After

dark water caused the camera to overexpose

the image making it bright and washed-out.

By compensating the exposure, detail is

brought out in the leaves, and the stones and

water appear richer.
