Basic recording operation
Turn the camera on (1) and turn the mode dial to the

Place the subject within the focus frame.
•Make sure the subject is within the focus range of the lens: 0.6m - ∞ (2.0ft - ∞). For subjects closer than 0.6m, use the macro function (p. 33).

•The indicator lamp shows the status of focus and flash. See page 22 for the details.
•The focus frame turns red to confirm subject lock. If it remains
4 | white, the camera was unable to focus the subject. Repeat the |
| previous steps. |
•The shutter speed and aperture will appear indicating the exposure is locked.

• The green indicator lamp may blink indicating image data is being written to the memory card. Never turn the camera off or open the battery/card chamber door while data is being transferred.
