Place the subject within the monitor focus frame or center the subject in the viewfinder. Press and hold the shutter-release button partway down to lock the focus.

• The indicator lamp glows steadily and the focus frame turns red when the focus is locked.

Without lifting your finger from the shutter-release button, recompose the subject within the image area. Press the shutter -release button all the way down to take the picture.

Special focusing situations

The camera may not be able to focus in certain situations. If the autofocus system cannot focus on a subject, the indicator lamp blinks and the focus frame will not turn red. In this situation, focus-lock can be used to focus on an object at the same distance as the main subject and then the image can be recomposed on the monitor (p. 22).
