Overview

not merely one of semantics but a vital distinction when understanding the concept of FireWire Branch/Leaf technology

￿￿With a regular In and Out switcher, not only does the front panel have separate In and Out buttons but the rear panel also has separate ports for input and output connectors

￿￿With a Branch and Leaf control switcher, the front panel has separate Branch and Leaf buttons but the rear panel has shared Branch/Leaf connectors: FireWire ports

3.3.3Configuring as a FireWire Hub

The VS-66FWis a 6 Port FireWire Switcher, which—due to its Branch/Leaf design—can also be configured as a FireWire hub.

3.3.3.1 Configuring as a 2x2 Port FireWire Hub

The example in Figure 1 illustrates a 2x2 FireWire hub in which the bi-directional signals flow separately between Port 1 and Port 4, and Port 5 and Port 6, simultaneously.
