3 Installing the printer driver

3.1 System requirements

The following system requirements will ensure that your p rinter runs
without problems:
lPersonal Computer: IBM-compatible PC with at least a Pentium
150 MHz CPU
lOperating System: Microsoft Windows95, Windo ws98,
Windows Me, Windows 2000,
or Windows N T4.0
lMemory: Windows 95/98/NT4.0: At least 16 MB of RAM
Windows Me: At least 32 MB of RAM
Windows 2000: At least 64 MB of RA
lFree disk space: A ppro xima tely 100 MB of available memory
lCD-ROM drive
lI/O interface: IEEE 1284/ECP/EPP/Bi-Di/compatible
USB (Available only when using Windows 98,
Windows Me or Windows 2000)

3.2 Notes on installing the printer driver

The installation program is designed so that even people not accustomed
to working with computers can easily accomplish it. You will be guided
step by step through the installation process. A ll you need to do is follow
the installation program.
Before you begin the installation, you should observe the following points:
lWhat operating system is running on your computer?
lWhat is the letter of your CD-ROM drive (D, E, etc.)?
lWhich optional accessories are fitted to your printer?
lIs your printer a local printer or a network printer?
mLocal printer:
When the printer is connected directly to your computer via a
parallel or USB interface cable.
mNetwork printer (option):
When the printer is integrated into a computer network.
